Nintendo's Brain Age sells over 4 million copies worldwide, less than 1 million in U.S.

Brain Age Box ArtNintendo has released sales numbers on one of their most unique titles to launch in the recent year, Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day, and the results would make any educator proud. Over 4 million copies have been sold around the world, indicating that probably over a million people are training their brain every day.

Selling more than 4 million units worldwide, including 600,000 in the Americas, 3 million in Japan and 500,000 in Europe, the top-selling title redefines how millions of people now think about video gaming.

As people that grew up playing video games age, formerly unsuccessful ideas may be reborn and find success in a market that did not exist only a few years before. Mental exercises may not appeal to the vast market of young gamers, but the growing market of gamers over 40 is creating demand in places there was no demand before.

Brain Age Box ArtGaming has taken some interesting turns in the past few years, with non-traditional games becoming bigger in the United States than they had previously. In Japan a recent trend has started with games that "train your brain," where the games focus on completing activities that use different part of your brain. The first one to be brought to the U.S. with any real success is Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day, also known as just Brain Age.
