Nintendo DS lite The portability. My DS goes with me everywhere. It fits simply in my pocket and is the always there for me…be it at the carwash waiting for my automobile to be cleaned...or the doctor's office, while waiting an hour after my appointment time for the rich bastard to show up…or even the bathroom, where magazines used to rule, but now I can waste that time with a more interactive form of entertainment. The DS is my best friend. It allows me to tolerate the various waiting rooms of the world, where I am not allowed to be productive in any other way other than gaining experience for my COs in Advance Wars: Dual Strike or unlocking new karts in Mario Kart DS or even fishing for rare catches in Animal Crossing: DS. The DS goes every where I go, and it keeps company well.

The innovation. I scoffed at the DS originally. Who cares about dual screens with touch screen support? Surely not I! And surely there would be no games to take advantage of these juvenile 'innovations' that Nintendo produced! How wrong was I. Nintendo truly grabbed the Sony PSP by the balls and added features to their portable gaming device that accomplish one task alone. They make games FUN! The dual screen is wonderful as it allows me to navigate Rainbow Road after a blooper attack has inked up my main screen. It allows me to enjoy the passage of time in Animal Crossing. It immensely adds to the experience of Metroid Prime: Hunters and Tetris DS, and allows me to wage a two fronted war in Advance Wars. The touch screen provides simple control in numerous games, and is used quite extensively in such wonderful experiences in games such as Trauma Center, the modern version of Operation. It will continue to provide innovative gameplay for many years, as the gameplay videos of Zelda DS have shown us. Finally, with built in WiFi capabilities, the DS provides all hardware necessary to enjoy gaming with friends several yards from you to new acquaintances halfway across the world. Nintendo surely saw the future with the many features it included in this device and the smaller and brighter DS Lite.

The Games. How did the Nintendo DS quite inexpertly 'pwn' the PSP? The games, silly! Nintendo and its third party developers have provided us with a plethora of GAMES that take advantage of the DS's amazing innovations and deliver a FUN EXPERIENCE! Does it provide the prettiest graphics? No! Does it play movies? No! Are the available games fun??? YES!!!!!!!! Metroid Prime: Hunters, Tetris DS, Animal Crossing, Advance Wars, Metroid Prime Pinball, Warioware, Mario Kart, Trauma Center, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney...the list goes on. How many games can you name for the PSP? The only one I know from memory is a poor portable port of a worn out GTA series. The sales of the Nintendo DS PROVE that it is not about the SPECS . . . it is all about the GAMES!

Why am I telling you this now? Because I am going to be providing the BEST coverage of NEW DS GAMES at this years ELECTRONIC ENTERTAINMENT EXPO! Check back here for coverage of Zelda DS and everything else that will make you portable gaming fans salivate!
