Review & Contest: Lux Pain for Nintendo DS
Evil. Mystery. Darkness. These are the words on the back of the box for Lux Pain. The game is described as a mystery where you must gather hints and clues by talking to people, and use your psychic powers to save the victims from Silent, an evil worm that has been infecting the local population. Can you stop Silent before it claims the lives of more victims, but more importantly, will you have fun doing it? You can win our copy of the game, so read on for our review and how to win!
[Update: Congrats to our winner, gbaker386! He asked for the video review of the larvets, so we're working on that now!]
Story
You play the game as Atsuki Saijo, a 17 year old who has been given the job of finding Silent, the evil worm that has been infecting the people of Kisaragi City. You infiltrate the local high school to learn more about what has been happening. You'll talk to all sorts of people, and try to help along the way.
Gameplay
There really isn't much gameplay in Lux Pain. You select where you want to go, and then usually go through a 5 minute conversation with someone who is in that area. Every so often, you'll have an encounter where you'll use "Sigma" to scan the area. This scanning is done by rubbing the stylus on the screen, trying to find a floating worm or ether. Unfortunately there isn't much variation in the gameplay, and even the minor scribbling game doesn't happen very often.
Graphics & Sound
The game looks nice enough, and the included art book is pretty nice, but when a game isn't fun to play, the best art can't make it better. Most of the graphics in the game are repeated over and over again (as you visit each area dozens of times throughout the game), and the characters look the same every time. The sound is minimal, with the same few music tracks played throughout the whole game.
Conclusion & Contest
For $30, this game is just no fun. You would be much better off buying a book and reading it, because it will be better written, more engaging, and less repetitive. I can't think of any reason someone would like playing this game, even if you just want a story to read.
So, do you want our copy of the game? We were sent the game (with the included art book) and a package of Larvets. As you can see in the picture to the right, they are actual larva that have been flavored to eat as a snack, or use as a garnish. This contest will be a little different. In the comments, tell us if you want the game and larvets, or just the game, or just the larvets, or if you want me to eat the Larvets and post a video review. Good luck!
Limit one entry per person. All entries must be submitted by Monday, June 15, 2009, at 12PM (Noon) Central Standard Time.

Having you eat them is a bit...
Are they really actual larvae?

Your review really does not sell this game at all. lol
I vote for you to eat the Larvets and post a video review. Perhaps you could even setup a test with random people on the street (although torture is frowned upon).
Can you post some better pictures from the artwork book? That sounds like it would be interesting.
